Raja Ampat, Indonesia
When asked to name the most spectacular places I’ve been scuba diving, Raja Ampat tops the list every time. This 1600-island archipelago off Sorong in West Papua, Indonesia, is a biodiversity hotspot, with 1400+ species of fish, more than 75% of the world’s hard coral species, and half the world’s known soft corals. Highlights included snorkelling with stingless jellyfish in a Misool lake, diving Whale Rock, and paddle boarding Wayag island’s protected waters.
